Meet Millicent, Freelance makeup artist
How long have you been a freelance makeup artist and how did you get your start in the industry?
I started my makeup career 6 years ago just after leaving beauty college. One of my first jobs was working at the Queen Charlotte’s Debutante Ball as an assistant makeup artist. This was an incredible experience and a great kick start to my career.
When did you decide to start your own business?
I have been a freelance makeup artist for 5 years and decided to go full time earlier this year.
What is currently trending in makeup looks at the moment?
Brushed up big bushy brows and lots of glow, even faux freckles have been popular this year.
What’s your signature makeup look? And do you have a favourite tip you could share?
I love all things glow and natural, my signature look would be something subtle and glossy perfect for daytime.
How useful have you found social media in growing your business?
Social media has played a massive part in my success, most of my bookings and clients come through my Instagram page but word of mouth is always key.
How important do you think uniform is for your business?
I’m so much happier in my uniform, I feel a lot more professional and it always saves me time in the morning. I love my Jaanuu scrubs, they are super comfy and they wash so well too.
