What are website cookies?
For almost any website to work properly, it needs to collect certain basic information about its users. To do this, a site will create files known as “cookies” which are small text files stored on its users’ computers. These cookies are designed to allow the website to recognise its users on subsequent visits, or to authorise other designated websites to recognise these users for a particular purpose.
Cookies do a lot of different jobs which make your experience of the Internet much smoother and more interactive. For instance, they are used to remember your preferences on websites you visit often, to remember your user ID and the contents of your shopping baskets, and to help you navigate between pages more efficiently. They also help ensure that the advertisements that you see online are more relevant to you and your interests. Some data collected is designed to detect browsing patterns and approximate geographical location to improve user experience.
Cookies and other similar technologies may be used to collect anonymised data about your visit.
We use Google AdWords Remarketing to advertise Kara across the internet. AdWords remarketing will display relevant ads tailored to you based on which parts of the Kara website you have viewed by placing a cookie on your computer or device. This cookie does not in any way identify you or give access to your computer. The cookie is used to say “This person visited this page, so show them ads relating to that page.” Google AdWords Remarketing allows us to tailor our marketing to better suit your needs and only display ads that are relevant to you. You can choose to opt out of this service by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt out page or by visiting Google’s Ads Settings.
Cookies are also used to recognize your computer when you visit the website subsequent times and to enable you to login to your online shopping account.
How do I turn cookies off?
It’s usually possible to stop your browser accepting cookies, or to stop it accepting cookies for a particular website. However, you won’t be able to login to your account on our website to view prices or purchase any goods on our website without a cookie in place.
All up to date browsers allow you to change your cookie settings. The cookie settings are found in the Preferences or Options menu of the browser. Use the Help option in the browser menu to find out how this works for your browser.
